Fear and apprehensions of pain during labour process was the major factor because of which women was avoiding natural birth .But with the introduction of labour analgesia the perception of pain is getting changed. In this method patient’s back is cleaned with an antiseptic liquid and the area where the epidural catheter is to be introduced is numbed with a local anaesthetic. The needle is then passed into the epidural space, small doses of medicines is introduced through a fine plastic tube. The Epidural analgesia is given when patient goes into active labour i.e. when opening of cervix is around 3 to 4 cm. The procedure is absolutely safe for patient and baby because patient will be relieved of severe pain and labour process continues. This procedure requires close monitoring by team of Gynaecologist and Anaesthetist.
Ectopic pregnancy is a complication of pregnancy in which the embryo attaches outside the uterus. Instead it may attach to fallopian tubes ,ovary ,abdominal cavity or cervix. Because a fertilized egg can’t survive outside of the uterus, it may create complications. An untreated ectopic pregnancy can be a medical emergency. Prompt treatment reduces your risk of complications from ectopic pregnancy, increases your chances for future, healthy pregnancies, and reduces future health complications. Ectopic pregnancy can be treated medically as well as with surgical treatment.
Uterine fibroids are muscle growths within the walls of the uterus. Removal of fibroids while preserving the uterus is possible by Myomectomy. The fibroids can be removed through those same small incisions by breaking them into smaller pieces, a process called morcellation, or one incision can be extended to remove whole fibroids. Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled or blood filled sacs on one or both ovaries .These can be treated by medical management or surgical treatment .Ovarian cysts can be removed surgically while keeping the ovaries and other pelvic organs intact. This is called a cystectomy.
